Trente Privacy Policy

Effective date: 28 October 2026

Trente is a budgeting app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, made by Louis Carbo Estaque, an independent developer based in France. He is responsible for this policy (the “data controller” under the GDPR).

The short version: Trente does not collect your data. I can’t see your budget, your transactions or anything else you put in the app.

What Trente stores, and where

Everything you enter in Trente stays with you:

  • your months, budgets and categories,
  • your transactions (titles, amounts, dates) and recurring transactions,
  • with Trente+, the notes and images you attach to transactions,
  • your preferences (for example, your reminder time).

This data is stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is enabled for Trente, it is also stored in your own private iCloud database, so it stays in sync across your devices. Apple runs iCloud under its own privacy policy. The data is stored in your iCloud account and I have no access to it.

Trente has no account, no server of its own, and never connects to your bank.

Apple Pay purchases (optional, iPhone)

If you set up the Trente shortcut with a Wallet automation in the Shortcuts app, then after each Apple Pay payment, Shortcuts passes Trente the merchant name and the amount. Trente uses them on your iPhone to prepare a pending expense and show you a notification. Nothing is added to your budget until you confirm it. This data is not sent anywhere. You can turn it off anytime by deleting the automation in Shortcuts.

Notifications

Reminders and alerts (new month, recurring transactions, Apple Pay purchases) are local notifications scheduled on your device. I don’t run a notification server.

Widgets

Trente’s widgets read your current month from the app’s storage on the same device to display it. Nothing leaves the device.

Photos

When you attach an image with Trente+, you pick it with the system photo picker. Trente receives only the image you choose and gets no access to the rest of your library.

Export

When you export your transactions as a CSV file, the file is created on your device. You decide where it goes.

Purchases

Trente+ subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. I never see your payment details. Apple only tells the app whether your subscription is active. See Apple’s privacy policy.

No tracking, no analytics, no advertising

Trente has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. It doesn’t share data with anyone, because it doesn’t collect any.

Contacting me

If you write to me (for example via “Send Me an Email” in Settings), the email draft includes your Trente version and system version to help me with support. You can remove them before sending. I use your email only to reply to you, and I delete it on request.

Deleting your data

  • To delete data on a device, delete the transactions or months in the app, or delete the app.
  • Deleting the app does not delete your iCloud copy. To remove it, on iPhone or iPad go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage (or Storage › Manage), and on Mac go to System Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage. Then choose Trente and delete its data.

Your rights

You can ask me to access or delete any email exchange we’ve had, and you can complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL). Your budget data is already under your control, on your devices and in your iCloud account.

Children

Trente is not directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect any data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
